Customer Feedback

"I have had many engines built and have used many automotive machine shops in the Portland area. These guys came highly recommended from some guys at the Woodburn race track so I made the drive to there shop. First thing I took note of was how clean the shop was, to me this made a statement that they take pride in thier work. I was shocked at how quickly they said they could rebuild my engine, Dennis called me every step of the way to recommend parts that would give me better performance and even talked me into some better pistons which where less expensive than the ones I thought I needed. These guys were professional, fair priced, and even saved me money! I am very picky and am not new to the automotive industry. I will tell everyone I know about the good folks at DVC, they renewed my faith in quality and customer service. Thanks from one good ole boy to another!"

Bearing Fatigue

Plated Copper Lead Bearing Failure

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Distressed upper connecting rod bearing caused by engine lugging.

Aluminum Main Bearing Failure

Type: Aluminum

Lining fatique due to excessive loading.

Plated Copper Lead Main Bearing Failure

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Overplate fatigue due to excessive loading.

Plated Copper Lead Main Bearing Failure

Type: Plated Copper Lead

A bent connecting rod led to the destress in the "V" pattern observed.

Bearing Seizure

Plated Copper Lead Main Bearing Failure

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Seizure due to excess tension of accessory drive belt. Debris from upper is embedded in lower bearing.

Plated Copper Lead Main Bearing Failure

Type: Plated Copper Lead

These bearings exhibit damage resulting from raised metal around the crank oil hole. Crankshaft is wiping material from the center of the bearing. No lubrication is present between the crankshaft and bearing in that area.

Aluminum Main Bearing Failure

Type: Aluminum

Seizure resulting from lack of lubrication. Note lining worn, exposing steel backing.

Bearing Wear

Excess Main Bearing Wear

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Polished and oil-stained backs are a result of a poor fit in the housing.

Excess Main Bearing Wear

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Poor crankshaft finish exposed copper matrix.
Acid in lube oil resulted in corrosion.
Porous matrix resulted in lining fatique.

Excess Main Bearing Wear

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Rear thrust face worn to steel backing due to excessive thrust load and poor crankshaft finish.

Excess Main Bearing Wear

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Wear due to poor crankshaft finish which wore through overplate and nickel barrier to copper matrix.

Excess Main Bearing Wear

Type: Plated Copper Lead

Bearing worn through overplate and nickel barrier due to tapered journal.
Corrosion of lead phase resulted in lining fatique.
Copper lead matrix was exposed to corrosive acids in lube oil.
